have you seen Joe before? I've seen him 3 times, the first being in '06, the most recent in '10 i believe. he's a very under appreciated musician, but it seems he gets the respect he deserves among other blues musicians. always puts on a good show. such a cool dude.

Last time I saw him was when he opened up for BB King in 89...at 12 years old. He was good then, but really just a talented curiousity; but now, holy crap, he is a monster now.

Infamous Stringdusters at Festy Columbus Day weekend. Also in the line-up (besides the Stringdusters) were:

Railroad Earth
Larry Keel and Natural Bridge
Toubab Krewe
Morwenna Lasko and Jay Pun (superb!!!)
Woods Brothers
Lake Street Dive
Jim Lauderdale
Emmitt-Nershi Band
David Grisman Sextet
Rubblebucket (channeling my best Gen X...."Meh")
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (yeah, that's what I thought too)

Prior to Festy I saw Jackass Flats about three weeks ago.

Next up is Yonder Mountain String Band at the NORVA Thursday night. Mrs. Mando is out of town on a girl trip so all hell is going to break loose at home. And then I will fall asleep on the couch by 10:30 PM..........

Last show I saw:
Jackie Greene w/ Truth & Salvage Co. last night at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA.

Next show:
On my way out to see Brainfruit (a talented local Rhode Island band) at the Met Cafe in Pawtucket, RI. Next non-local-band show I have planned is The New Deal on New Years Eve in New York City at BB King's Club. and if I have the funds, I'll make my way to the North Mississippi Allstars at the Paradise in a few weeks.

it's actually The Met, not Met Cafe, even though The Met is the resurrected Met Cafe (different city and location of course), which leads to the confusion; even the tix list the venue name as The Met

The last 3 bands I saw were all GD cover bands: DSO, Splintered Sunlight, Furthur.

The last non-Dead bands I saw were Reverend Horton Heat w/ Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band 2 nights in a Row. I wanted to see Levon at the newly opened Fillmore, Silver Spring MD a couple weeks back, but I didn't make it even with ticket in hand.

My next show will be Keller Williams this weekend!

My pal Junghae, in Brisbane. I've seen her several times solo and with a quartet but here she is doing her thing for the cameras:

Not sure what's next. I prefer shows these days where the audience behaves.

Yes. I've done work for her over the years and had the privilege of sitting next to her while she played for me. Kevin Fryer built her harpsichords. In person they have the warmest, deepest tone.

Last "show": one of these guys came to our house. They walk up and down the street sometimes, going house to house, so you can hear if one is in the 'hood; and then they play for as long as you'd like and you pay them what you'd like.

This isn't my video. It's nicely done; very "everyday life." (And not done by a tourist):

that's so cool AR, i wish guys like that would stop by my place. i'd invite him in to jam with me and introduce him to the GD. a visit to nepal is on my bucket list. do you mind me asking how many languages you speak? do you mostly speak nepali there? do most people there speak more than one nepali language? sorry for being nosey, you don't have to respond to any of those obviously.

I'm comfortable in Nepali, and generally speak that (with many undoubtedly comical mistakes) unless the other person is fluent in English ... but of course I speak English with hubby and kid!

There are many languages here, and lots of people speak multiple languages. I wouldn't say "most" (except that most would also speak Hindi, I guess.) But many do, particularly in rural areas. I really want to learn the local language of an area I go to a lot, so that's on my wish list. I'll probably be too lazy, though.

very cool. thanks for sharing that. it's amazing how many people outside of the states speak a whole variety of languages. i can barely manage with two. i suppose most of them learn out of necessity. until recently, it hasn't been necessary to know anything other than english over here.
